The August 2026 paper compares capability-acceleration arguments with the Ambient Era's question of viability. It adds power architecture as a distinct variable rather than assuming more capability automatically means a more livable civilization.

Whether people and institutions can absorb the change while retaining autonomy, attention and reversibility.
Power
Who sets the infrastructure, permissions and defaults through which capability becomes influence or support.
This three-axis synthesis is a comparative research architecture; the paper explicitly does not present the underlying frameworks as wholly empirically established.

Cheap generation creates output. The empirical question is what happens next: what state accumulates, what becomes hard to reverse, how much attention migration requires, and whether alternatives remain practically usable.

Working formulation developed in the September 2026 site revisions. This is an interpretive thesis, not an empirical finding.Slop is not the logical opposite of coherence. It can be output, residue or evidence of failed integration. Coherence describes a field's capacity to sort, retain, transform, fade or discard abundant material without losing continuity. A coherent field can contain slop.

Three axes, conduit classifications and affordable variation are proposed analytic structures. Their usefulness depends on their clarity and what questions they enable.
Hypothetical and speculative
Institutional and civilizational outcomes, strong thermodynamic analogies and cosmological interpretations require further evidence, operational definitions and scrutiny.
